eTwinning PDW – Vilnius Lithuania June 10 – 12
This was my third eTw event, therefore I knew what I wanted to accomplish and what to expect from the workshop. I have participated in quite a few eTw projects as the result of my previous events and I was looking forward to meeting new people and st up new projects.
This PDW focused on Using Web 2.0 tools and it was quite interesting to see how Ipods can be used within the confines of a class room! There were some problems with our internet connections making it impossible for us all to log on and try what we were learning. However the workshop teacher was experienced enough to explain, show, discuss, demonstrate the concepts involved to such an extent that we were able to see the usefulness of using this method.
The entire PWD was well organized, the extracurricular events, site seeign in Vilnius, visting the Trakai castle, dinner at the lake were all excellent, well thought out, easy-going and interesting. Many of the participants were able to discuss plans for future and past projects and simply socialize on these programs.
By the end of the PWD, I was able to set up 4 tenative projects, learning new methods for running projects, etc. I hope to run the 4 mentioned projects with schools from Turkey, Portugal, Croatia, Norway and Austria.
I would like to thank the Lithuanian NSS for orgnaizing such a useful and educational PWD. I look forward to the running the tenative projects and future eTw PWD and other events. I would also liek to thank the Hungarian NSS for allowing me to participate and I look forward to a long and frutiful relationship with them.
In closing I would also just like to add that the Vilnius is an interesting and exciting city, the people were extremely helpful and friendly, the food wonderful. I am looking forward to my next visit. In fact this trip was so successful that I have decided to participate in a seperate program in Lithuanian in August thanks to the wonderful attitude and work of the Lithuanian NSS! Thank you!
