CHoC Goes to Catalonia!

CHoC had its first short term exchange of students between January 13-17. Escola Garbi in Esplugues went out of their way to provide all visiting students excellent hosts and to set up a fascinating, exciting and extremely informative, educational week.

The entire week was designed such that there was a natural curve to it. Day one started off strong with work on pre-Columbian cultures, including, of course, the role of cacao. The week wen ton to hold fascinating tours in ethnographic and chocolate museums, visits to factories in Agramunt where the local factory is the oldest one still producing chocolate from stone ground cacao. The crescendo was to visit a Cistercian monastery of Vallbona and on the final day more art and creative work with a natural wind down to it. 

Of course there were teacher meetings, where we discussed upcoming meetings in the Azores, administration work to be done, etc. 

Everybody learned quite a bit over the course of the week and enjoyed free time in the center of Barcelona.

Next stop on the CHoC train will be the island of Terceira in the Azores come April!
