Látogatás a strasbourgi Európai Parlamentben

A Poli már 5. éve tagja az Európai Parlament Nagykövet Iskola programnak, de idén nyílt először lehetőség arra, hogy diákjainkat elvigyük a strasbourgi Európai Parlamentbe.  

Még a járványveszély előtti, Euroscola vetélkedő során elnyert dobogós helyezésünk tette lehetővé a négy napos utazást. A program sajátossága, hogy 24 tanuló kap lehetőséget a részvételre, így mi is nagy lendülettel kezdtünk az utazók kiválasztásába. A junior EP nagyköveteink mellett olyanok is kaptak esélyt, akik eddig még nem vettek részt külföldi utazáson, illetve akiket az Európai Unió az átlagosnál jobban érdekel.  

Az alábbiakban olvasható néhány résztvevő beszámolója magyar, illetve angol nyelven. 

Pintér Zsolt és Nádasdi Zsuzsa, kísérő tanárok 

Feledhetetlen élmény volt Strasbourgba utazni. Csodálatos volt a társaság, jó hangulatban telt az egész utazás. Sosem fogom elfelejteni az európai parlamentbe való látogatásunkat, a strasbourgi székesegyházat, azt, ahogy jártuk Strasbourg utcáit, és a Mercedes Múzeumot. Egy percre se unatkoztam. Nagyon hálás vagyok azért, hogy elmehettem erre a szuper útra, hiszen tudom jól, hogy kevés embernek adatik meg a lehetőség, hogy teljesen ingyen ilyen elképesztő helyekre ellátogathasson.

A városnézést nagyon élveztem. Főleg a hajóutat, tetszett, hogy sok információt elmondtak a városról. A parlament látogatás hatalmas élmény volt. Leginkább azt élveztem, hogy megtapasztalhattuk hogyan szavaznak az igazi parlamenti képviselők.

Trip to Strasbourg 

The trip to strasbourg was great! We went to the city of Christmas which was very beautiful. The teachers always try to give us some time to adventure and sightsee before the main event. The main event was really intresting. It was a hybrid session, it was broadcasted to people who joined the event online. But it still went well, a lot of current questions were discussed, from different perspectives and we even made friends with people from Greece! The building itself was very unique and had that futuristic vibe that could also be seen from the outside. I would like to visit again, it was definetly an experience.

A strasbourgi utazásunk a hivatalos egy nap helyett négy napos volt. Az első napunk szinte egésze elment az utazással. Estére mire megérkeztünk Karlsruhéba, az első szállás helyünkre már besötétedett, de Zsolték voltak elég kedvesek és megengedték, hogy kimenjünk és barangoljunk egy kicsit. Másnap visszapakoltunk a buszba és átmentünk Strasbourgba várost nézni. Volt néhány kötelező program, mint például a hajós városnézés, ahol sok érdekes információt megtudhattunk a városról, de nagyon sok szabadidőnk volt, amikor kis csoportokban mászkálhattunk és felfedezhettük a várost magunknak. Miután már bejártuk a várost átmentünk Kehlbe, ahol volt a második szálláshelyünk. Másnap pedig a Parlamentbe mentünk a hivatalos programra, ami szerintem rendkívül érdekes és izgalmas volt. Jó érzés volt abban a teremben ülni, ahol havonta egy héten a parlamenti képviselők is ülnek. A negyedik nap pedig hazafele jövet bementünk a Mercedes múzeumba is.

Strasbourg review 

A Strasbourg-i kirándulás számomra egy nagyon jó élmény volt. Igaz, az utazás nem kevés időbe telt, de én azt is élveztem. Sokat segített, hogy kétszer annyi hely volt a buszon, mint amennyien utaztunk, így mindenki viszonylag kényelmesen el tudott férni, és a csomagoknak is maradt hely. 
A diákszállásokon, ahol megszálltunk, nem töltöttünk el olyan sok időt – nagyjából csak aludni mentünk oda – de akkor minden megvolt, ami kellett. 

Az első két napon, Karlsruhe-ban és Strasbourg-ban néztünk körbe. A program nagyon jól volt összeállítva, nekem nagyon tetszett, hogy volt kötelező program, pl. sétahajókázás, a maradék időben pedig szabadon lehetett sétálni a városban. Strasbourg nagyon szép hely, minden részében van mit felfedezni, nagyon szépek az épületek, és az emberek is kedvesek. 

Az Európai Parlamentben a program kedd reggel kezdődött, és késő délután ért véget. Több interaktív foglalkozáson is részt vettünk, kipróbálhattuk, hogy szavaznak a parlamenti üléseken a képviselők, és feltehettünk kérdéseket többek között az Európai Parlament alelnökének is. Az étteremben kaptunk reggelit és ebédet, és volt időnk összeismerkedni külföldi diákokkal is. Az egész program sokkal jobb volt, mint amire számítottam, szerintem nagyon jó lehetőség a diákoknak több szempontból is. 

Összességében nekem nagyon tetszett ez a négy nap, örülök neki, hogy jelentkeztem, és hogy beválogattak, szívesen mennék még hasonló programokra.

My Euroscola Experience in Strasbourg – Székely Barnabás 

I have applied to the Strasbourg Euroscola program, because it seemed fun and interesting, and I was curious to see how the EU parliament in Strasbourg really works. Weeks after the end of this two-day trip (four, if you count the additional two days spent with travelling) I am very confident to say, that the trip did not disappoint me.  

Strasbourg – the city itself was magnificent and it was nothing I’ve ever seen before. The mixture of French and German architecture creates a very unique vibe, and it is very interesting to see how these two countries’ historical squabbles and other doings have influenced this city. In my opinion, Strasbourg is the perfect-sized city. Not too small to get bored, but also not big enough to make you feel lost, or always feel like you’ve missed something. It was perfect for casual exploring. 

On the first day, we were mostly exploring Oldtown – a fully pedestrian part of the city with magnificent architecture and charming restaurants, cafés, and other shops. I was really glad, that we could spend most of our time here as we pleased, just wandering around in small groups, admiring this beautiful part of town and all the things it had to offer – it was a really great social activity.  

At the evening, we returned to our youth hostel in Kehl – Germany, which was on the other side of the Rhine river. The whole evening was given to us as free time, so we decided to explore the city. It amazed me to see how these two cities were so intertwined – there was even a tram line going between them, cross-country. Kehl was obviously not as stunning as Strasbourg – being a much smaller and much more historically insignificant city, but it was still very nice. 

We started the second day by taking our bus directly to the European Parliament. There, we spent approximately seven hours overall. When we arrived and got through the security check, we were led to the cantina, where we were given pastries and coffee. We were also able to socialize with all the other students form different countries, also attending the event. After breakfast we were escorted to the Hemicycle to attend the speech of vice-president Katarina Barley. She talked about (among various other things) the problems, that Europe faces today and later we were given the opportunity to ask questions directly from her. We had some very interesting conversations regarding the current energy crisis and the war in Ukraine, for example.  

After the first half of the program, we were given lunch in the cantina and then went back into the Hemicycle, for the second half of the program. This time, five EP members welcomed us, and we mostly talked about how the EP works. Later we  a chance to try out the voting system that MEPs use, and we could also ask questions personally from the committee members. It was a very interesting experience. 

This wraps up our visit to the European Parliament. We spent the rest of the evening wandering around the city in small groups, buying souvenirs and further exploring Oldtown. It was a very fun night.  

Overall, I think this was one of the most eye-opening experiencers, that I have ever been to in my life. This trip was worth it for me, even just to see the German countryside and the city of Strasbourg, but I’ve got so much more out of it. I got to make new connections, speak other languages besides English, see how the EP works, eat local foods, and just have a good time in general. And then, I didn’t even talk about our first day in Germany, in Karlschruhe – which was just as good as the ones spent in Strasbourg and Kehl. Overall, if I was offered the chance to go back and relive this experience, I wouldn’t hesitate to say yes.

Strasbourg 

I was super excited when I saw that I got accepted to the group of Hungarian students that were going to the European Parliament. It was my first ever visit to France, but we didn’t only just visit the French we spent our nights in Germany; one night in Karlsruhe and the other in Kehl. On the first day we went sightseeing in Strasbourg’s inner parts where we visited the Cathedral (and it’s never ending stairs), the river, Ill and our nice and lovely teachers gave us some free time to explore the city. It was a magical day just by itself, but the main attraction of the whole trip was coming the day after. On Tuesday we got up early, to get into The European Parliament in time. Amazing place, it reminds me to some kid of superhero headquarters from the movies. After a small tour around the building we finally got to have breakfast where we met the foreign students. It was one of the best parts of this whole trip. I talked to some of them or asked for their Instagram, they were really adorable people. Then we had two sessions where we participated as politicians, or something like that. I found the first one more interesting, because it was more intense and we really got tired for the second consultation so there was less going on there but I still liked it as well. My overall view on the whole program was/is positive, it was an unforgettable experience. We headed back home on a day after with a quick stop at the Mercedes-Benz museum in Stuttgart. The two 16 hour trips were worth it because it was the best ever trip I’ve ever been to.
