Recognize Preconceptions in Movies – hosting 2 partners on group mobility
I hosted a girl from Finnland. Everyday we had workshops and lunch in school. After school we met up with the other Finnish girls, and went shopping, sightseeing and we even went to Rudas spa. In the evenings we usually played some board games, and chatted. We ate a lot of Hungarian food, which she really liked. The last evening we had a big gathering with everyone, which was a perfect end to the week.

I was hosted by a very kindful family in Germany last year. I wanted to give back that kindness to my guest as well.
They arrived to the Keleti Pályaudvar in the afternoon of 16th of April. On the first afternoon we met with the others in the city and spent a wonderful evening, right after everyone put down their luggages at home. Luckily we didn’t have too many tasks throughout the week, so we could spend a lot of time with each other. We went to a ton of places in Budapest, like: Gellért-hegy, Normafa, Rakpart, Margit-sziget, Fashion Street Budapest. We had many interesting programs which were made by our teachers, for example: Why Budapest is a popular filming spot?. We had to make a short movie about a given place and genre. We have got the Nemzeti Színház as the place where we had to shoot the film and drama as the genre. Unfortunately, I couldn’t be on the final day and at the end ceremony because of an important competition.
In general, it was a good Erasmus+ project, I enjoyed it. Many German guy will come back in the summer because they enjoyed being here so much.

I’ve never been on an Erasmus program where we have to host. It was wonderful that the Finns and Germans came to our country. I feel that our relationship has become much stronger this way.
I hosted a very kind girl. She was open, she was interested about Budapest and we had many great conversations. We were similar in many ways and understood each other easily.
It was good to show our guests our culture and the capital. We had great programs in the city and we could showed the sights to the Finns and Germans. In the meantime, we shot short films, which we watched at the end of the week! They were so great, and we laughed a lot on them.
We always came up with good programs for the afternoon as well. For example, we went to the Rudas spa, which was also a great experience for me because I had never been there before. We showed the Finns the Margaret Island, Gellért Hill, Buda Castle, Normafa and the night life in Budapest 🙂
This week was wonderful, my guest said she would like to come back to Budapest with her family. I hope she comes back because she was so kind and we became really good friends!

After they arrived to budapest we showed the city with the lights in the night. We went for a walk near the Danube.
On Monday we showed the school to them and we had an icebreaking games. We tried to learn everyones name. After the program in the school, the day continued in the city. We visited some important places and also we could talk more with each other and got to know everyone better.
The second day we had to make a film, first we had to make a plan and make a script. After that we made the videos. The next day we started to cut the videos.
We watched the film called Larry and i really enjoyed it. I could learn a lot from the movie.
We wathed another film too called easy lessons and we had a workshop about the film. We went to the Buda hills, had a picnic and than went back tot he school and baked pizza. It was amasing, like the hole group together. And the pizza was amasing by the way.
Last day we watched the films together. 6 groups made 6 different movies. All of those was amasing.
We took a last group picture and with that, this amasing week ended sadly.

In the beggining I was a bit nervous about this hosting. Fortunately we were the last ones to host so I already knew how others did it. I really enjoyed it because we always did something. Even after the progams we were going somewhere in the city. We wanted to show them as much as possible.
I hosted a really nice girl and I think we got along well. It was great having them here.

I hosted an exchange student from Germany for a week. I’ve already met them in person when they were accommodating me in Germany. We usually got along quite well, we shared some interests and hobbies. I got to learn how to adapt my needs to theirs. Disrupting my daily routine was a challenge I had to face during the week.
My family and I prepared Hungarian meals, and some snacks and were trying our best to show them our culture, traditions, and everyday lives. I truly enjoy giving little tours to foreigners in my hometown.
We had numerous spontaneous activities organized by us, the students along with the mandatory programs led by our teachers. On every day of the week we visited another area of Budapest, we sat down in parks, were playing card games, listening to music in Hungarian, German, and Finnish.
All in all, I find our exchange a very pleasant experience where we could learn about each other’s cultures and could improve our idiomatic and even our social communication skills.

I was hosted by a really nice family in Finland. They also accommodated a german girl along with me. They always made sure that we were comfortable. The meals were healthy, filling and delicious. We always had something fun to do in our freetime, but they also made sure that we have our space. They were the perfect host family, I am very grateful that I got to stay with them.

On the first day I was very excited to have my guest over, since we made good friends during my time in Nürnberg.
Every morning we had icebreakers, which I had the pleasure of hosting, and also competing in. On our way tot he school my guest was fascinated by the anouncer lady ont he public transit. We talked a lot during his stay.
Me and the other hosts showed our guests around the city when we were no ton programme. Although the programs also included sightseeing and looking around the city, which were quite enjoyable. We also watched the movie called „Larry”, it was surprisingly good, but sadly the subtitles didn’t give back the movie’s „magic”. We also made our own movies in small groups, which was rather fun. We had the opportunity to present our masterpieces to eachother ont he final day. The entire group had the pleasure of witnessing some oscar worthy acting, and having a good laugh.
During the whole week, we enjoyed my mother’s awsome cooking, and ate some tradicional hungarian delicacies. I also tried to make my guest try Túrórudi, but he didnt like it, which hurt me as a hungarian tot he core (I still cry regularly to this day).
In the end we said our teary eyed goodbyes and said farewell.

It was great to have these guys here, I was glad to host. The films that we watched were interesting and pretty new to everyone as far as I know. We had a good time here, put a lot of effort into the projects that we had to do and Im absolutely satisfied with the work of my group. Im glad that I was the part of this event.

Finally, the second part of this Erasmus has come. I was really worried prior to the guest arrival because it was the first time I hosted somebody, and didn’t know what to expect. I wanted my guest to feel the absolute best, so I prepared quite a bit beforehand.
When they finally arrived, my worry turned into excitement, and from that point on I only focused on them and the project and really enjoyed the whole week.
It was quite exciting how I got to experience Budapest, the city that I visit almost every day in a different way. Maybe for the first time in my life I could see it through the eyes of a tourist and could appreciate the different attractions of the capital city. For example, I viewed the scenery of Budapest as something exceptional, which I haven’t done in a while since I usually just walk by it without really looking. So, the fact that I could slow down and enjoy my time with a few good people was also really amusing. I also ate a lot of different traditionally Hungarian foods and delicacies I don’t usually get to enjoy in my day to day life.
The project itself was also really good. I quite enjoyed the lectures but the most exceptional program in my opinion was the film making and viewing. I think majority groups made really good short movies and it was really interesting to see the teamwork between the three nations.
I also got to make a few new friends from different countries, and reconnect with the ones I haven’t seen in a while.
All in all, I really enjoyed the whole Erasmus, the hosting and also the travelling part, and would like to participate in another one if I have the chance.

I really liked hosting foreigners. I had the chance to share my own knowledge about Budapest and our school. I think the people were really nice and open to learn about the Hungarian culture. It was surprising how we managed to guide our hosts around the city and show them the most famous things in Budapest.
I think hosting a person who lives in a different country, helps the most in learning English. It helped me improve my English skills to a higher level. It also taught me how to compromise better, and learn my boundaries, because there were some conflicts. Not anything too major just casual little conflicts.
It was like whole new experience for me and I really enjoyed it.
Seres Léna
In april, i hosted a german girl. She was amazing and we became really good friends. I was curious how our week is gonna look like. The programs in the school were well organized. After the school programs we with the hosts showed around Budapest to our guests. They really liked our city and our school to.
I find a lot of new friends with this project and it was fun. Our theme was movies so we could make our own movie. Everyone liked the filming.
We didn’t have enough time to show around everything in Hungary. But they could see the most important places and it was a chance for us to see the city from an other perspective.
I am lucky because i was able to participate in this project it was one of the bests!

This was my first erasmus project, but i hope i will be able to participate in more, because i enjoyed this one, altough my student was quite bad at english, we still managed to talk more this time, unlike in Nurnberg. The “must” programs were also better than expected and we had fun in the freetime part as well. It was a long and tiring week but it was worth it.
My favourite program was the film making one. It was really creative and fun to do and the results were pretty funny.
The German and the finnish group also got along after a few days. It was hard, since half of the hungarians knew the finnish and the other half knew the germans and the groups were hangin out with each other, but we planned a few programs in the free time to get to know each other better. So overall this much free time is really necessary to enjoy the other programs, since it’s more enjoyable this way if you know everyone a litte bit.

We were all excited to host our exchange student and me and my family prepared many things for her. I think it was easier for us because we were the last ones to host. We saw what the others did for us so we only had to make similiar gestures towards them. My mom made dinner for us when my exchange student arived. There was a small language barrier between my mom and our guest, but they managed to communicate. Every day was long and exhausting, even when there wasn’t any mandatory programs we organised some, we wanted the best for them and we wanted to show as much of Budapest as we possibly could. There were ups and downs throughout this week but overall I enjoyed it and it was a great experience.
Habi Zsófi
This was my first time hosting so I didn’t know what to expect but I was really excited. Almost everyone hosted the same person that hosted them so we kind of knew each other already and were excited to see them again.
Everyday in our free time we did something different, so we were never bored. A couple of us Hungarians had something planned everyday for our German exchange students. We went shopping, explored the inner city, and also showed them some of our personal favorite spots in Budapest. It was also interesting to show them a different culture and lifestyle.
Even though it was really exhausting, I really enjoyed this project and being able to share our daily life with our exchange students. I am also glad because the Germans I spoke to said that they really enjoyed the project and exploring Budapest with us. I’m happy I was able to take part in this project with them
Gyöngyösi Hanna
We planned the programs months before the arrival of the students. Since my exchange student couldn’t accept anyone in Finland, I met her here for the first time. I contacted my student before the arrival. In addition to the school programs, we also organized special programs. We visited the Rudas spa, the castle, and Margaret Island.
I was delighted because we had similar interests. We compared every night that it works in Hungary that it works in Finland. I learned a lot about Finnish culture and some Finnish words as well. But the best thing is that I use the English language more boldly. Since she left, I have contacted the guest and sent each other messages and pictures.
So, Erasmus was a great experience, besides being helpful. I had a great time and look forward to my next Erasmus.

In April, a Finnish student came to live with me for a week. I consider myself very lucky, because, when we were in Finland me and the boy who stayed with me in Hungary became very good friends, so I wasn’t under the stress, that comes with meeting a total stranger person, who’s going to live with you for 7 days.
After we came home from Finland, in February, me and my student talked almost every day. We became quite close, and I was very excited for him to come here. Finally, the day came, and as we went home from the airport, he looked at Budapest with amaze in his eyes, which made me appreciate my city even more.
I think I can speak for all of us if I say we had an amazing week. We went to school at 9 in the morning and only got home around 9 – 10 pm every day. We showed the city to them and had a lot of programs during the afternoon.
We took them shopping, had picnic in Margaret Island, and sometimes we just sat in a café all afternoon, talked about life, and let them enjoy the “big city” life.
I enjoyed the school programs as well, especially when we had to make a short film to sum up the Erasmus topic. We had about four – five hours to have it done, and the process of it was very funny, but also challenging.
We watched two Hungarian movies, which I was very happy about, because they were on my “to watch” movie list for a very while, and finally I could cross them off.
We also went on a hike to Normafa and had an amazing picnic looking down at Budapest. After that we made pizza in the school which I loved as well.
My student became friends, with my friends, realized he loves national Hungarian dishes, like “csirkepaprikás”, and started learning in Hungarian, so he could come back later.
I’m really glad I could participate in this eramus, and I can’t wait to go on another one.
Szűcs Hanna
I really liked the hosting. We started planning the things one month before the arriving date. It was fun to figure out things to do in my hometown, because I live here, and I do my everyday stuff here. I was excited about the hosting because I never did such a thing like that. I contacted my guest 1 day before the arrival because I didn’t have any of his addresses. I hosted a Spanish guy from Germany, Nürnberg. I was in Finland, but there wasn’t any Finnish guest left.
In my opinion we planned good programs for them, and we tried to show them every side of Budapest. We went to bars, a bath, used public transportation all the time, at home my father made traditional Hungarian food, chicken paprikash. At the school we had activities and programs about the topic of the Erasmus. We made a short move and learned about discrimination through Hungarian movies. At the end of the week, we had a closing party. We send home my guest with a lot of Hungarian goods.
In conclusion I think we did and planned a magnificent Erasmus, that our guest enjoyed dearly.

After visiting Nuremberg in November and being hosted by an amazing family it was my turn to host.
I was happy that I got the same girl who hosted me because it was nice living with her family, and I wanted to return her kindness. Fortunately, she said that she felt comfortable in our home, which was good to here.
Everybody enjoyed the programs a lot from what I saw. It wasn’t a big experience for only for them, but for us Hungarian students too. It was fun showing them around the city and seeing them amazed at places I go by every day.
The school programs were good too. I enjoyed organizing the morning energizers (which I did with some other students) In my opinion the best task was creating the short film. It was fun, we got a chance to use our creativity and it made us feel closer to each other.
I feel lucky to have participated in this project, and I can’t wait to go on another one.

Hosting a student
This was my first time hosting a student from an entirely different country before and I had a totally different expectations of this exchange.
First, I had an amazing time showing my guest the country the culture and how us Hungarians live. What I didn’t expect was how tiering and stressful this whole thing was. The most difficult part was experiencing having reliability over a person. When we were in the city, I was always looking out for him. We hade a great time especially in the big city, due to him not visiting a bigger city in his life before. At home we didn’t have a lot of things to do, but we made the most out of it, this was tiering as well, always coming up with a plan so we wouldn’t get bored.
Overall, I had a great time, and learned something about responsibility.
Charlie Pike
I hosted an exchange student for the first time during the project, so I was very excited to see how it would go together. Unlike the students in Nuremberg, everyone here lives about an hour away from the school, so we were worried about what they would think about this “minimum of two hours of travel” per day.
I think the programs were great, we started every morning with an energizer. This helped the group dynamics a lot. I think the task of making a film was very creative, everyone enjoyed it, although not everyone took part in the group work.
My friend Bence and I had to participate in a competition on Friday, so we were left out of the last day’s programs.
After they left, Malvin and I talked for a few days and he said that they really enjoyed their stay here and that they really liked Budapest.
We haven’t spoken since 🙁

The Recognize Preconceptions in Movies Erasmus+ reception event organized by our institution was a remarkable experience, bringing together students from various backgrounds and cultures. We had the pleasure of hosting German and Finnish partners, who joined us for a week of engaging activities and discussions. Throughout the program, we explored the theme of films and prejudices, fostering an environment of open dialogue and understanding. Additionally, we had the opportunity to collaborate with the Menedék Association, which supports refugees, and participated in a musical Roma program. Furthermore, we took a guided tour of the Jewish Quarter, enriching our knowledge of different cultures and histories.
