Event 2 – Czestochowa, Poland

The event presented the role of Solidarity Trade Union in Poland in the 1980s contributing to democratic transition.

Lecturers and former Solidarity activists presented the historical background, their roles in the movement and the repression suffered (imprisonment, loss of job). Furthermore, documentary films were screened and a performance was presented by local youth.

Study visits to Solidarity Muzeum and Muzeum Ratus were also included in the programme.

Finally, there was an exhibition and contest from the posters made by young participants about the topics of the project.
