A month in Spain in a long-term Erasmus+ mobility “Inclusio”

As I stated the name of my program was Inclusio which meant that I had to be included in the daily life of the family and the school. I resided with two families and spent two weeks at each house. Both of my hosts were amazing and really made me feel like I was another son of the family.

The program took place in towns near Barcelona which is the capital of the Easter region of Spain known as “Catalunya”. The school I went to with my hosts was located in Badalona while my first host lived in Santa Coloma and the second lived in Teia. This wasn’t my first time visiting Barcelona but seeing it with locals gave a whole different experience and we even checked out less touristic places. Along withal that they told me a lot of the historical backgrounds and fun facts that most people never hear from tour guides.

At the school I was given a special timetable since many of the classes were held in catalán (which is the regional language) so my timetable only had lessons in Spanish. I was surprised because of how different the school and lessons were and that depending on the number of lessons they had there was only one or two breaks during the day. Also my grade which was called “primero de bachillerato” had it’s faculties way different than at home. After people finished their secondary (E.S.O.) they had to choose between four different “directions” or groups to have their faculties in. My time tabled contained mathematics and robotics which were part of the “sciences” group but to show me the most popular one in the school I participated in philosophy lessons as well which is part of the “socials” or “social sciences” direction. Although I already spoke Spanish on a higher than average person in my school I wasn’t close to reaching the level that my grade their had so in addition of my classes in “bachillerato” I had a lot of classes with lower grades. Usually in Spanish lessons I counted as a student while on others such as “proyeto” or English I acted as a teachers aid which gave me a unique experience I won’t soon forget.
