Annual eTwinning Conference and Camp in Budapest
I had the honor of representing Poli at the annual eTwinning conference in Budapest.
In brief it was a worthy event, well organized and full of exciting workshops and presentations.
There are 650 people for all over the eTw world, ranging from students from the winning schools to teachers and officials.
Seeing the winning students on stage, giving presentations about their project combined with a workshop run by the winning team in the high school age group was proof positive that we teachers need to involve as many students and colleagues in eTw projects as possible. It was such an inspiring event that I was sending live comments via Facebook to my students here at Poli. Our school librarian, Jakab Judit and an English teacher, Szakács Edina were so impressed by the project idea thta they want to run a similar one here at Poli!
During the coffee breaks and free time I participated in numerous conversations with Turkish, German and French colleagues. These conversations turned into project ideas. Currently we are negotiating four new projects to be launched in fall 2011.
Regarding the organization of this conference. I have never been at a conference so well organized. The venues were perfect, well equipped, etc. The lodging at Novotel Congress Center was above par and the gala dinner, to our amazement, set in the Vasut Törteneti Park was beyond words. If I had to describe it I would say MAGICAL!
Thank you to the entire Conference and Camp team for putting on the event and to the Hungarian eTw team for letting me participate!
